GEMS is a holistic mentoring programme which aids in the raising of student achievement and guides students in their vocational pathway but also builds and enhances a safe and supportive learning environment where all students will experience personal success and gain a recognised qualification to assist them achieve their career pathways goals.
Every student at Sacred Heart Girls’ College has a mentor to assist with their learning by guiding and supporting them to set and meet realistic personal goals. Typical activities include setting goals, understanding data about achievement, discussing and trying strategies for improving learning such as study skills, deeper understanding of NCEA, assessment and option choices in their vocational pathway.
