Student Avengers!

Student Avengers!

Student Avengers are on a mission!

They are ready to swoop to the rescue of those in technological need; to quash the misuse of technology in our school and to ensure peace and technological harmony reign supreme in out teaching and learning spaces!

As the use of technology in our school increases, it is inevitable that technology issues arise and these can get in the way of teaching and learning in our classes.

Enter the Student Avengers!

This is a group of students who have volunteered to give up their lunchtimes to be trained as Student Tech Experts. Each Wednesday, they meet in the computer room to learn more about the tricks and tools needed to ensure that technology supports (rather than hinders) learning in our school. The students also commit to helping those in ‘Technology’ need by sharing what they learn.

Think Manaakitanga people!!

What this involves for the Student Avengers:

  • Committing to weekly lunchtime training sessions in several different areas:
    • Use of Office 365 as a learning tool
    • Projector troubleshooting
    • Setting up and using school emails
    • Tips on saving, storing and printing student work
    • And much more…
  • Being visible and being recognisable to staff and students by wearing a badge
  • Committing and being willing to help staff and students (when they can) with technological issues they are having in class or at any school gathering (concerts, assemblies etc)

What will the Student Avengers get out of it?

  • A Badge to wear every day so that others recognise them as a Student Avenger (and possibly a cape!)
  • Digital Badges to show they have conquered a certain skill. These can be added to C.V.’s and emails
  • Extra training in some of the tools we are using in school so that their own work can be more organised
  • Recognition as a leader within the school
