Spanish Pathway

Aims

Students can understand and produce more complex language. They can communicate beyond the immediate context, for example, past and future events. Students can understand and produce a variety of text types.

Competencies

Make use of context and familiar language to work out meaning and relationships between things, events and ideas; Understand specific details in contexts that may contain some unfamiliar language; Initiate and sustain short conversations in both formal and informal contexts; Describe, compare and contrast peoples, places and things; Communicate about problems, solutions, immediate plans, hopes, wishes and intentions; Use resources to experiment with new language and review their work for accuracy. Students will be required to manage their own portfolio (both oral and written).

Pathways this course contributes towards

Entry to Level 2 Spanish. A career in travel, hospitality, education and many others.

Other essential information

Year 10 Spanish or by negotiation.

I love languages especially Spanish. I took Spanish because I think it is a really useful skill to be able to speak another language and it will open a lot of opportunities for me when I want to travel and that I get to communicate with a whole other culture.
